REReligious Education is much valued by all our pupils. Our work is based on the locally Agreed Syllabus for RE. We study the six major world faiths in a vibrant and creative way, using art, dance, story, video and music. Our pupils also love the peace of the subject and the opportunity to share their feelings about their lives and the world around them. We stress the importance of human values and respect. Our room is an inspiring place that includes many special objects from the world of religion, a peace area that is designed by the children themselves, and speech bubbles showing the wise things our children say. We enjoy learning from religious visitors and visiting local places of worship. Our department is known as a national leader for RE and special needs, and we have twice won the national Spirited Arts competition for our creative work. We’ve also been filmed for a BBC schools RE programme and Teachers’ TV. Our performance group ‘Culture Mix’ sings and dances at many events in the borough and in local schools, taking our school message of unity, harmony and togetherness into the community. |
