Pre-formal Cohort 

Curriculum 

  • The LHS Pre-formal Curriculum emphasises Sensory and Experiential Learning, Communication, Co-regulation and Self-Help Skills 
  • Pupils at the LHS Pre-formal Curriculum are at early stages of subject-specific learning with curriculum subjects used as contexts for learning  
  • The LHS Pre-formal Curriculum focuses on developing engagement for learning 
Teaching and Learning combines structured and flexible approaches with a focus on learning how to learn

KS3 & 4: Progression Steps (Steps 1 and 2); Skils4Life; Autism Progress; LHS Computing (Sheffield ELearning Programme), IEPs 

KS5: CD Wheel, IEPs 

Accreditation routes  

AQA Units, ASDAN Personal Progress (Entry Levels 1, 2), ASDAN Transition Challenge (Introduction and Progression / Sensory); ASDAN Towards Independence (Communication / Numeracy)

 

Semi-formal Cohort 

Curriculum 

  • The LHS Semi-formal Curriculum emphasises Cognitive and Experiential Learning, Communication, Self-regulation and Self-Help Skills.   
  • Pupils at the LHS Semi-formal Curriculum are engaged in subject-specific learning below the NC assessment standard 
  • The LHS Semi-formal Curriculum focuses on involvement and participation in learning 
Teaching and Learning combines structured and flexible approaches with a focus on developing skills for learning

  • The LHS Formal Curriculum focuses on initiating learning and developing independent skills 
Teaching and Learning combines structured and flexible approaches with focus on developing independent learning
